School Wide Assessments

Why does our school need to assess our implementation to be recognized?

Research shows that when schools have high levels of implementation, they have better student outcomes. We conduct assessments through the PaPBS network to ensure that recognized schools are meeting the minimum thresholds for implementation suggested by research. (Blase, Fixsen, Sims, Ward, 2015).

What assessments are required for each category of recognition?

How can we locate and/or review our previous scores?

Please contact your Independent Schoolwide Network Facilitator to gain Team Member access to PBIS Assessments.

What if we don’t get 80% of our staff to complete the Self-Assessment Survey (SAS)?

80% of certified staff participation on the SAS is required for recognition. If you have not meet the 80% participation rate, reach out to your Independent Schoolwide Network Facilitator for problem solving.

When do assessments have to be completed?

Below are the general windows for submitting assessments. Please contact your Independent Schoolwide (SW) Network Facilitator for more specific deadlines.

Fall submission prior to applying for Tier 1 Initial Recognition:

  • Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ) completed by spring of prior year

Spring submission:

  • Tiered-Fidelity Inventory (TFI), including walkthrough
  • Self-Assessment Survey (SAS)

What assistance will be provided to complete the assessments?

School teams should coordinate with your Independent Schoolwide (SW) Network Facilitator to schedule and complete all assessments.

What scores do we need to “pass”?

For year before Tier 1 Initial Recognition:

  • Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ) - 70% or above

For each category:

  • Self-Assessment Survey (SAS) - 80% or greater certified staff participation rate
  • Tiered-Fidelity Inventory (TFI; including Walkthrough) - 70% or above at each Tier for which you are applying for recognition

What happens if our program does not “pass” an assessment? Can we retake it?

This is a great question. There is no pass or fail. Every school that completes a fidelity measure is showing a commitment to improvement and data based decision making. The data gather through this assessment process is critical to establishing the level of implementation currently in place. This data is used to create an effective action plan.

With regard to the PaPBS Network Recognition process, if you school does not meet the criteria for recognition at a certain tier, you cannot retake the assessment for recognition purposes within the same school year.
